Shiretown Nursing Home and Ivey's Terrace Nursing Home have joined the province-wide labour disruption affecting CUPE-represented long-term care homes, effective Thursday, April 23 at 6:30 a.m.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has initiated strike action effective 7:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026.
Three long-term care homes operated by MacLeod Cares, Roseway Manor Nursing Home, Surf Lodge Nursing Home, and Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, are part of this initial phase of strike activity.

We are most pleased to announce that the Department of Seniors and Long Term Care have advised us that the successful proponent is MacLeod Group Health Services.

We have been notified by Public Health that an employee at our Mahone Bay Nursing Home has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is home in isolation. We are working diligently with Public Health officials, Nova Scotia Health Authority and the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness to notify residents, family, and staff. All residents and employees at the Home are undergoing testing. We will not be permitting visitation at Mahone Bay Nursing Home at this time.

The Rankin government announced today, July 9, it is investing $96.5 million in new long-term care beds and facilities to better serve residents, their families and staff who care for residents in long-term care.
MacLeod Riverside Court is pleased to announce a new virtual medical care service for our residents. A newly formed partnership with eVisitNB and Beacon Clinical Group called eVisitNB Virtual 1st will bring access to virtual care delivered in the comfort of the resident’s own suite. Residents will be able to access timely medical services from physicians and nurse practitioners to meet their immediate and on-going care needs.
MacLeod Group Health Services is pleased to be part of an exciting announcement by the Nova Scotia Government today regarding the development of a 96-bed Nursing Home in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. We are delighted that seniors in Lunenburg County will have access to a new and modern long-term care facility with the replacement of the Mahone Bay Nursing Home.
Please note that MacLeod House is taking a phased approach as it relates to our visitation policy. Our visitation policy will be reviewed regularly to determine if restrictions on visitation times, number of visitors, and if off-site visits may be lifted.
