April 13, 2026
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has initiated strike action effective 7:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026.
Three long-term care homes operated by MacLeod Cares, Roseway Manor Nursing Home, Surf Lodge Nursing Home, and Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, are part of this initial phase of strike activity.
The care, safety, and dignity of our Residents remain our top priority. Plans are in place to maintain safe, essential care throughout this period, in accordance with an Essential Services Agreement (ESA).
Residents will continue to receive all required clinical care, personal care, and support services, with a continued focus on comfort and well-being.
During this time, families may notice some temporary adjustments, including, but not limited to:
- A pause in non-essential programs such as recreation
- Simplified menus; some Residents may have more meals in their rooms
- Possible delays in phone response times
These measures are in place to ensure staffing resources remain focused on essential care.
Families are welcome to visit, and their presence is always valued.
For questions about a specific Resident, please contact their Home directly.
