As a full-service senior care organization, we provide a range of options for new residents. Whether you are making a “lifestyle decision” to move into a retirement home or you need the added support of a nursing home, we have you covered. One of the first things to decide is the level of service that is the best fit for your lifestyle or health care needs. MacLeod Cares offers a variety of senior care services throughout Atlantic Canada in the areas of Retirement Living, Assisted Living and Nursing Care.

Retirement Living

Retirement Living at MacLeod Cares is designed for those making a lifestyle choice to move into their own private suite within a socially-active and independent community. As the “entry-level” into facility-based services for seniors, our Retirement Living suites allow residents to continue to live independently with the option to access support services including meals, housekeeping and laundry. Also referred to as Independent Living in some provinces, this “Level 1” care is not eligible for government subsidization.

Assisted Living

Assisted Living at MacLeod Cares is designed for those who are still able to live somewhat independently provided they have ongoing support for daily tasks such as meals and housekeeping; as well as assistance with grooming, hygiene and medication administration. Assisted Living residents live in their own government-subsidized suite within our facility and receive 24-hr supervision by our care team. It’s the recommended option for those who can no longer safely live alone or with family/home care support. Community Care, Residential Care and Special Care are all examples of this “Level 2” care option.

Nursing Care

Nursing Care at MacLeod Cares offers the highest level of care provided outside of a hospital. Residents will be in our Nursing Home where care is provided on a 24-hour basis under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Nursing Care residents will receive assistance with grooming, hygiene and medication administration; as well as accommodation, meals, security, laundry, housekeeping and activities. This “Level 3” care ranges from minimal assistance to total dependent care. Many provinces refer to this type of care as Long-Term Care and it often includes dementia care.

  • Bringing Dad to live at MacLeod Cares has been just great for us as a family. He absolutely loves everyone who works here and has settled in so well. It was a positive experience from the first contact to making this move happen.

  • I have lived at MacLeod Cares for three years now and am totally happy. The staff are wonderful. I’ve made many new friends. And I have lots I am able to do like the knitting club, going shopping or on outings in the van. I have no complaints at all.
