Thank you for your interest in the Internationally Educated Nurse to Licensed Practical Nurse Program!

This six-week program for internationally educated nurses consists of three weeks in a classroom setting in Halifax, NS in October 2025, covering topics including leadership, standards of practice, Canadian healthcare, documentation, and more. Following the classroom portion of the program, you will participate in a three-week mentorship at MacLeod Cares Mahone Bay Nursing Home or MacLeod Cares Shiretown Nursing Home.

Upon completion of the six-week program, you will begin a position in Mahone Bay or Pictou as a conditional LPN while you prepare for and write the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination (CPNRE). You will be paid throughout the six weeks of training, and travel or lodging will be covered during the classroom portion of the program. MacLeod Cares will also pay your licensing and exam fees. There is a two-year return on service agreement for this program.
