MacLeod Cares Mahone Bay Nursing Home

Set in a tree-lined, park-like area in the heart of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, this brand new state-of-the-art 96-bed facility was unveiled July 2024. The layout of the three-storey building includes six wings, each with 16 single rooms. The residents in each wing share a common space that has a kitchen, dining area and comfortable living area to enjoy social activities. The facility also has an occupational therapy and physiotherapy treatment room, a hair salon for residents, outdoor spaces and the Irene MacLeod Community Room – a large space for the use of residents, families, staff and community members.

Care Services Offered at this Location

Nursing Care

Nursing Care at MacLeod Cares offers the highest level of care provided outside of a hospital. Residents will be in our Nursing Home where care is provided on a 24-hour basis under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Nursing Care residents will receive assistance with grooming, hygiene and medication administration; as well as accommodation, meals, security, laundry, housekeeping and activities. This “Level 3” care ranges from minimal assistance to total dependent care. Many provinces refer to this type of care as Long-Term Care and it often includes dementia care.
