June 12, 2026
We are pleased to share that, following over eight weeks of labour disruption, CUPE-represented team members at Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, Roseway Manor Nursing Home, Surf Lodge Nursing Home, Shiretown Nursing Home, and Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home will be returning to work on June 14, ahead of the ratification of each CUPE Local’s ratification vote on the Lead Table agreement.
Throughout this challenging period, we have seen the strength and resilience of our communities. We extend our sincere thanks to Residents, families, volunteers, staff, and community partners for their patience, understanding, and support.
We are especially grateful to our team members, who adapted to changing circumstances with flexibility and professionalism, guided by a shared commitment to Resident care and well-being.
The return of CUPE-represented staff will take place in accordance with Return-to-Work Agreements negotiated with each Home’s respective CUPE Local. Leadership teams at each home are working closely with union representatives and returning employees to support a smooth and safe transition back to regular operations.
Over the coming days, services and routines that were adjusted during the labour disruption will be restored as quickly and safely as possible. While some temporary adjustments may still be necessary during the transition, our focus remains on providing high-quality care and support for Residents.
We appreciate the trust and encouragement shown throughout this period and look forward to welcoming our full teams back as we return to normal operations.
