MacLeod Cares, operated by MacLeod Group Health Services, uses Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to engage with those interested in our activities and recruitment efforts, in a responsive and user-friendly manner. The following information applies to MacLeod Cares’ official social media accounts:

Content and monitoring
We use our social media accounts to share information and updates, stories from across our company, and to promote employment opportunities.
Our social media accounts are managed by our marketing and communications team in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and are typically monitored Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. AST. Posts to our accounts may occur outside of these hours due to special circumstances or pre-scheduled content, or due to the varied working hours of our recreation teams in each of our Homes.
Enquiries and media requests
We respond to questions, comments, and/or direct messages during regular working hours. For resident-related or confidential matters, please contact the Home directly by phone. We do not provide medical or resident-specific care advice through social media.

Following, reacting, and subscribing
Our decision to “follow”, “favourite”, “react”, or “subscribe” to another social media account does not imply an endorsement of that account, channel, page, or site, and neither does sharing content from another user.
Links and ads
Our accounts may include links or ads to external sites. MacLeod Cares is not responsible for content nor endorses third parties.
Commenting
MacLeod Cares welcomes comments on our social media posts and we are committed to maintaining a safe online community. We require comments to be relevant and respectful. We reserve the right to delete comments that:
- Contain personal, confidential, or identifying information about residents, families, or staff
- Express racist, hateful, sexist, homophobic, slanderous, insulting or life-threatening messages
- Put forward defamatory, false, or misleading allegations against individuals or organizations
- Are aggressive, coarse, violent, obscene or pornographic
- Are offensive, rude or abusive to an individual or an organization
- Are not sent by the author or are put forward for advertising purposes
- Encourage illegal activity
- Promote or oppose political parties, candidates, or campaigns
- Are unintelligible or irrelevant
- Are repetitive or spam
MacLeod Cares may remove any content at its sole discretion.
Social media is not an appropriate channel for care concerns or complaints. Comments of this nature will be removed and redirected to appropriate channels.
Comments on MacLeod Cares’ posts are not endorsed by MacLeod Cares, including those made by team members. Comments made by employees are expected to follow applicable workplace policies.
Dependent on the nature of the commentary, MacLeod Cares may remove content, and, where appropriate, restrict or block users on the relevant social media platform.
Privacy
Our social media accounts are hosted by third-party platforms and are publicly accessible. We encourage users to review each platform’s privacy policies.
Do not post personal, confidential, or identifying information about yourself or others, including residents, families, or staff. We encourage users to read the privacy statements and user agreements of these sites before signing up.
MacLeod Cares may update these guidelines at any time. Continued engagement with our social media accounts constitutes acceptance of these terms.
