Preparations for the demolition of the former Bridgeport School, located at 1260 Main Street in Glace Bay, will begin in the coming weeks.

The property is the future site of the new Victoria Haven Nursing Home, which was announced by the Government of Nova Scotia in 2021. The new nursing home represents an important investment in long-term care for Glace Bay and will provide 64 modern, private rooms for seniors in the region.

The former school building must be safely demolished before construction of the new nursing home can begin. Public safety is the highest priority throughout this process. Qualified contractors will complete all work in accordance with provincial regulations and industry best practices.
