Ward Clerk

The Ward Clerk functions as a cohesive member of the Administrative Team and is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining employee work schedules and entering payroll for Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home.  As a secondary key function, the Ward Clerk performs clerical and related duties in all areas of the facility. The incumbent demonstrates effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy at all times, with strong conflict management and resolution skills.

Qualifications:

Solid mathematical skills to assist in establishing appropriate staffing patterns within budget

Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business, Administration, or an equivalent field

2-5 years of scheduling or planning experience, preferably in a large organization

Knowledge and experience in interpreting and ensuring compliance with policies, collective agreements, legislation, and standards

Proven record of good attendance in past employment

Willingness to work a flexible schedule

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Positive team attitude and strong work ethic

Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
