We are so humbled by the support we received during the unexpected evacuation of our nursing homes in Shelburne and Lockeport during the recent wildfires. Within 48 hours of receiving notice, our 84 residents and 211 staff members were relocated to Acadia University where they resided for nearly 2 weeks. None of it would have been possible without the kind-hearted people, community groups, businesses and organizations that stepped up to help. Together, we were able to maintain the highest quality of care and safety (as well as some fun) for our most vulnerable citizens during this challenging time. What a perfect example of the strong community spirit and good people here in Nova Scotia.
